Clear answers
before you decide.
Most people pause here for the same reasons: control, fit, online sessions, and fees. Start with the question that feels closest — then take a clearer next step.
From the question that is looping to a useful next page.
You do not need every answer before you enquire. Pick a theme, skim what matters, and decide whether a conversation with Gerald feels worth taking.

There is no wrong question. Request a consultation, or use the support guide when more than one concern fits and you are not sure where to start.
Before you begin
Most people arrive with the same first questions: control, clarity, and whether hypnotherapy is even the right kind of support.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No. Clinical hypnotherapy here is a collaborative process, not stage hypnosis. You remain aware, able to communicate, and able to pause or stop at any time. Many people describe focused attention and relaxation rather than being “asleep” or under someone else’s control.
Do I need to know exactly what the problem is before I start?
No. A clear diagnosis is not required to request a conversation. The first consultation can help clarify what you are experiencing, what you would like to change, and whether a hypnotherapy approach may be a suitable complementary next step.
Who is hypnotherapy usually for?
Adults who want support with patterns such as stress, anxiety, sleep difficulty, confidence, habits, fears, or related personal change. Sessions are conversation-led and paced to you. Hypnotherapy Center offers complementary support — not emergency care, and not a replacement for medical or psychological treatment when that is needed.
Is this the same as stage hypnosis or mind control?
No. Stage hypnosis is entertainment. Sessions with Gerald Crawford are private, consent-based clinical hypnotherapy. You do not hand over control, and nothing is done without your agreement.
Sessions & online appointments
Practical answers about length, format, and what the first meeting is for — so you know what to expect before you book.
How long is a first hypnotherapy session?
The first session is usually about 90 minutes. That extra time allows an unhurried conversation about your situation, questions about hypnosis, and practical next steps — without pressure to commit to a long programme upfront.
Can we meet online across South Africa?
Yes. Online appointments are available across South Africa via video call from a quiet private space. Selected in-person appointments can also be arranged where suitable. You can ask which format fits during your consultation request.
What happens in the first conversation?
You share what has been looping, Gerald answers questions about the process, and you decide together whether sessions may be appropriate. It is a two-way conversation — not a performance — and you are under no obligation to continue if it does not feel right.
How should I prepare for a first session?
Arrive with a quiet private space if you are online, and a few notes on what has been difficult lately if that helps. A perfect explanation is not required. See the prepare-for-first-session guide for a fuller checklist.
Fees & practical details
Transparent fee guidance before you enquire — exact plans are always confirmed in conversation.
What does an online hypnotherapy session cost?
Online one-to-one sessions start from R2,050. Exact fees depend on the session type and plan discussed in your consultation. In-person appointments at selected locations start from R3,250.
Do I have to buy a package of sessions upfront?
No. You are not pressured into a multi-session package before you have met and decided whether the approach feels right. Any ongoing plan and fee structure are discussed transparently during the consultation.
What is the notice period if I need to cancel or reschedule?
At least 24 hours notice is requested if you need to cancel or move an appointment so the time can be offered to another client. Confirm the current policy when you book.
Care boundaries & urgent help
Clear limits protect you. Hypnotherapy here is complementary support — and some situations need a different kind of care first.
Is hypnotherapy a replacement for medical or mental health care?
No. Hypnotherapy at Hypnotherapy Center is complementary support. It does not diagnose conditions and does not replace medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment. If you need clinical diagnosis or ongoing specialised care, please contact an appropriate professional.
Is Hypnotherapy Center an emergency or crisis service?
No. Appointments are by arrangement. If you need urgent help now, use appropriate emergency or crisis services first. See the urgent-help page on this site for guidance on getting immediate support.
What if I am still unsure after reading these answers?
That is normal. Request a consultation and ask anything that still feels unclear — or start with how sessions work, what we help with, or the support guide if more than one concern fits.
When the answers are enough — take one step.
The aim of this page is not to sell a miracle. It is to clear the usual blockers so you can decide whether a conversation feels useful.
