How it works

Know what to expect,
from the start.

Starting something new can bring up questions. Here is the path from choosing a verified hypnotherapist to a first conversation — and where you remain in control.

Clear steps. Your pace. A conversation first.
The journey

Four steps from choosing a practitioner to beginning.

You do not need to commit to a long programme before you understand the process. Each step is a chance to ask questions and decide what feels right. Right now, start with a consultation request. Live slot booking opens once the diary is enabled.

01

Choose a hypnotherapist

Browse verified practitioners at the centre, or start with founder Gerald Crawford. Profiles show areas of practice, session formats, fees and typical hours so you can pick someone who feels like a fit.

02

Request a time — or reserve a slot

Send a consultation request, call, or email. When the live diary is open, a free client account lets you choose an open time on your hypnotherapist’s calendar. Nothing is confirmed until you agree a time together.

03

Have the first conversation

Talk through what has been happening, what you hope might change, and any questions about hypnosis. Your hypnotherapist explains what sessions could involve and the fees. You decide whether to continue.

04

Begin the work

Sessions are tailored to you — online across South Africa or in person at selected locations. You remain aware, able to communicate, and able to pause. Hypnotherapy is complementary support — not a guaranteed outcome.

What hypnosis can feel like

Many people describe it as focused attention and relaxation. It is not sleep, and you do not hand over control. Experiences differ — you can ask your hypnotherapist to explain any part of the process.

What the first session is for

The first session is usually about about 90 minutes. It is both a chance to be heard and a practical conversation about fit, approach and fees. If it does not feel right, you are under no obligation to continue.

Online sessions are available across South Africa. Selected in-person appointments can be arranged where suitable. Fees are shown on each practitioner profile and on the sessions & fees page. For a fuller checklist, see prepare for your first session.

How booking works

Start on a hypnotherapist profile or go straight to book a consultation. A consultation request is the usual first step. Live calendar reservations stay off until the diary is enabled — the request form still reaches the centre.

Confirmed appointments can be managed from the link in your confirmation. Payment is arranged directly with your hypnotherapist — the platform does not take online payment.

Common questions

Will I lose control?

No. Collaborative hypnotherapy is not sleep and not stage hypnosis. You remain aware, able to communicate, and able to stop.

Do I need to know exactly what the problem is?

No. The first conversation can help clarify what you are experiencing and what you would like to change.

Do I book with Gerald only, or can I choose another hypnotherapist?

You can choose. Gerald Crawford is the founder practitioner. Other approved hypnotherapists appear in the directory with their own profiles, fees and availability. Each person works in the same complementary-care frame.

Is a consultation request the same as a confirmed booking?

No. A request shares how you would like to meet and how to reach you. When live calendar booking is open, choosing a slot still needs a free client account and a confirmation. Nothing is billed here — payment is arranged with your hypnotherapist.

Is this an emergency service?

No. Hypnotherapy Center provides complementary support by appointment. If you need urgent help, use appropriate emergency or crisis services first.

Clarity first. Then a conversation.

If the process feels clearer, choose a hypnotherapist or request a consultation — or explore the concern that feels closest before you decide.
