Forget what others have and where they are. You’re not walking in their shoes, and you’ll never comfortably walk in your own if you keep comparing yourself to them. So focus on what’s best for YOU and your unique circumstances.
What do you need to do next for your own priorities and objectives? Do it! You won’t be distracted by comparison if you’re captivated with purpose.
Here is a hypnotherapy script to help you start comparing yourself to yourself and no one else:
Induction
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, allow your body to relax, letting go of any tension or stress. Imagine yourself sinking deeper into relaxation with each breath.
Imagine yourself standing at the top of a staircase, with each step leading you deeper into relaxation. With each breath, take a step down, feeling your body becoming heavier, sleepier, and more relaxed.
As you reach the bottom of the staircase, imagine yourself in a peaceful, calm place, surrounded by warmth and comfort. This is your safe space, where you can cultivate self-acceptance and self-love.
Deepening
Allow yourself to settle even deeper into relaxation, feeling your body becoming heavier, your mind quieter, and your spirit more open.
Imagine a warm, soothing light filling your entire body, dissolving any remaining tension or stress. As this light circulates through your body, it awakens your sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance.
Comparing to Yourself
Now, bring to mind a time when you felt proud of yourself. It could be a goal you achieved, a challenge you overcame, or a kindness you showed to someone else.
As you hold this memory in your mind, imagine a small, delicate mirror in front of you. This mirror represents your self-reflection and self-awareness.
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, imagine gently gazing into the mirror. See your reflection, and appreciate all the things that make you unique and special.
Repeat the following affirmation to yourself, allowing the words to sink deeply into your subconscious mind:
“I compare myself to myself, and no one else. I celebrate my own growth and progress.”
Visualization
Imagine yourself in a situation where you’re tempted to compare yourself to someone else. See yourself taking a step back, and reminding yourself that you’re on your own unique journey. See yourself focusing on your own strengths and accomplishments, rather than comparing yourself to others.
As you visualize yourself comparing yourself to yourself, feel a sense of self-acceptance and confidence growing within you. Know that you are your own best competition.
Reframing
Now, imagine reframing your thoughts about comparisons. Instead of comparing yourself to others, see yourself as a work in progress, constantly growing and improving.
Repeat the following affirmation to yourself, allowing the words to become a part of your inner dialogue:
“I am my own best self. I compare myself to myself, and celebrate my own growth and progress.”
Closing
Take a moment to integrate the insights and feelings from this journey. Know that you have the power to compare yourself to yourself, and no one else.
As you slowly open your eyes, remember to carry this sense of self-acceptance and self-love with you, and to return to it whenever you need to refocus on your own growth and progress.
Repeat the following affirmation to yourself, as you go about your day:
“I compare myself to myself, and no one else. I celebrate my own growth and progress.”
Remember to use this script in a relaxing and comfortable environment, and to adjust the language and imagery to suit the individual’s needs and preferences.
