Visualize yourself having fun conversations, sharing your thoughts and ideas, and making new friends. You are a confident, articulate communicator, and you can do it!
Here is a sample hypnotherapy script for helping a child overcome stuttering:
Induction
“Close your eyes and take a deep breath in. Hold it for a second, and then exhale slowly. Feel your body relax, starting from the top of your head, all the way down to your toes.
Imagine you’re in a special place, where you feel happy and relaxed. This place makes you feel safe and calm. You can imagine a beautiful beach, a magical forest, or even a fun playground.
Now, visualize a bright, warm light filling your entire body. This light makes you feel calm, relaxed, and happy.”
Deepening
“Take another deep breath in, and as you exhale, repeat the phrase ‘I am calm and relaxed’ to yourself. Allow these words to sink deep into your mind, making you feel even more relaxed and calm.
Imagine you’re blowing bubbles, one by one. With each bubble, you feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed. You can see the bubbles floating gently away, carrying all your worries and tensions with them.”
Suggestions
“Now, imagine we’re playing a fun game together. We’re going to talk about all sorts of things, like your favorite toys, games, or activities. You can imagine speaking clearly and confidently, without any stuttering or hesitation.
Repeat the following phrases to yourself, allowing them to become your new reality:
* ‘I am confident when I speak.’
* ‘I trust myself and my words.’
* ‘I can speak clearly and easily.’
* ‘I am proud of myself for trying.’
As you repeat these phrases, imagine them taking root in your mind, making you feel more confident and relaxed when speaking.
You are doing a great job, and I’m so proud of you for being brave and trying. Remember, speaking is like playing a game – you can always try again, and it’s okay to make mistakes.”
Visualization
“Imagine you’re speaking confidently and clearly with your friends, family, or teacher. See yourself speaking easily, without any stuttering or hesitation. Notice how your body language exudes confidence, and how your voice is strong and clear.
Visualize yourself having fun conversations, sharing your thoughts and ideas, and making new friends. You are a confident, articulate communicator, and you can do it!”
Counting and Awakening
“Now, take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, slowly count from 5 to 1, feeling yourself becoming more awake and alert with each number.
5… You feel relaxed and calm.
4… You feel confident and happy.
3… You’re ready to play and have fun.
2… You’re speaking clearly and easily.
1… You’re awake, refreshed, and ready to start your day with a newfound sense of confidence and fluency!”
Remember to tailor the script to the child’s age, interests, and comfort level, and to use language and imagery that they can understand and relate to.
