Release the Power that Emotional Eating have over You with Hypnotherapy

Imagine yourself in a situation where you might normally turn to emotional eating. But this time, envision yourself responding differently. You take a deep breath, acknowledge your emotions, and choose a healthier coping mechanism.

Here is a hypnotherapy script to help release the power that emotional eating has over you:

Induction

(Soft, calming music plays in the background)

“Welcome to this hypnotherapy session, where you’ll let go of the emotional eating patterns that have been holding you back. Find a comfortable seated or lying position, close your eyes, and take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Imagine yourself standing on a peaceful beach at sunset. Feel the warm sand beneath your feet, the gentle ocean breeze on your skin, and the sound of the waves gently lapping at the shore. With each breath, allow yourself to relax and let go of any tension.”

Deepening

“As you continue to breathe deeply, imagine a warm, soothing light beginning to fill your body. This light represents relaxation and calmness. As it flows through you, it dissolves any remaining tension or stress.

Imagine this light starting at the crown of your head, slowly flowing down through your face, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, chest, abdomen, lower back, hips, legs, and finally, your toes. As it flows, it leaves behind a sense of deep relaxation and calmness.”

Identifying Emotional Eating Patterns

“Now, bring to mind a recent situation where you felt the urge to eat emotionally. Perhaps you were feeling stressed, anxious, or bored. Notice how you felt in that moment, and how you responded to those feelings.

Allow yourself to acknowledge the emotions that drove you to eat. Was it sadness, anger, or frustration? Recognize that these emotions are valid and that it’s okay to feel them.

However, also acknowledge that emotional eating has not been serving you. It’s time to break free from this pattern and develop healthier ways to cope with your emotions.”

Releasing Emotional Eating

“Imagine that with each breath, you’re releasing a little more of the emotional eating patterns that have been holding you back. Envision a weight lifting off your shoulders, or a rope unraveling, releasing you from the grip of emotional eating.

As you exhale, repeat the phrase ‘I release emotional eating.’ Allow the words to sink deeply into your mind and heart. With each repetition, feel the power of emotional eating over you diminishing.

You are in control of your choices, and you choose to nourish your body and soul in healthier ways. You trust yourself to make decisions that support your well-being.”

Empowering New Choices

“Now, imagine yourself in a situation where you might normally turn to emotional eating. But this time, envision yourself responding differently. You take a deep breath, acknowledge your emotions, and choose a healthier coping mechanism.

Perhaps you go for a walk, practice a hobby, or talk to a friend. Whatever you choose, know that you have the power to make decisions that support your well-being.

Repeat the following phrases to yourself, allowing the words to sink deeply into your mind and heart:

* ‘I trust myself to make healthy choices.’

* ‘I am in control of my emotions and actions.’

* ‘I nourish my body and soul with love and care.'”

Anchoring the New Behaviour

“To anchor this new behaviour, I want you to create a physical anchor. This can be a subtle gesture, such as touching your thumb and index finger together, or a specific phrase that you repeat to yourself.

Whenever you feel the urge to eat emotionally, recall this anchor and remind yourself of your newfound power and control. Take a deep breath, and trust that you can make healthier choices.”

Counting Up

“When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, imagine yourself feeling refreshed, renewed, and empowered.

Count slowly to yourself, from 1 to 5, and with each number, feel yourself becoming more alert and awake.

1… You’re beginning to feel more alert.

2… Your eyes are getting heavier, but you’re still relaxed.

3… You’re feeling more focused and centered.

4… You’re ready to take on the day with renewed energy.

5… You’re wide awake, feeling refreshed and empowered.”

Post-Hypnotic Suggestion

“Remember, you have the power to release emotional eating and make healthier choices. Trust yourself, and know that you’re capable of achieving your goals. Whenever you need to, recall the feelings of relaxation and empowerment from this session.

Take one final, deep breath in, and when you’re ready, slowly return to your day, feeling more confident and in control.”

(Soft music continues to play for another minute before slowly fading out)

This script is a general guide and may need to be tailored to individual needs and circumstances. It’s essential to work with a qualified hypnotherapist or healthcare professional to address specific emotional eating concerns.
