Releasing Self-Sabotage and Catch Yourself and Redirect with Hypnotherapy

Releasing Self-Sabotage and Catch Yourself and Redirect

A Transformational Hypnotherapy Script for Awareness, Interruption, and Empowered Choice
(Approx. 30–35 minutes – adaptable for therapeutic or audio delivery)

Preparation – A Safe Space to Reset

Sit comfortably with both feet grounded.
Allow your spine to lengthen gently.
Rest your hands loosely in your lap.

When you are ready, close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in through your nose…
Hold briefly…
And release slowly through your mouth.

Again… inhale calm…
Exhale tension.

Right now, you are not here to criticize yourself.
You are here to understand yourself.

Self-sabotage is not weakness.
It is protection that has outlived its purpose.

And today, you are updating that pattern.

Induction – Relaxing Into Awareness

Bring attention to the top of your head.
Imagine a warm wave of relaxation slowly flowing downward.

Softening your forehead…
Relaxing your eyes…
Loosening your jaw…

Let your shoulders drop.
Your arms grow heavy.
Your chest rise and fall naturally.

Soften your stomach.
Relax your hips.
Feel your legs supported.
Your feet grounded.

With every breath, your nervous system slows.

Slow body.
Clear mind.

Take a slow inhale for four…
Hold for two…
Exhale for six.

Longer exhale.
Deeper calm.

Understanding Self-Sabotage

Now gently bring to mind a recurring pattern in your life.

Perhaps procrastination.
Overreacting.
Avoidance.
Pulling away from opportunities.
Saying words you later regret.

Observe it as if watching a scene from a distance.

Notice:
What happens just before the behavior?

A thought?
A doubt?
A feeling of fear?
A sense of pressure?

Self-sabotage always begins with a signal.

And between that signal and the behavior…
There is a moment.

That moment is your power.

Catching the Pattern Early

Now imagine that same situation beginning again.

This time, you are aware.

You notice the early thought:
“I’m not ready.”
“This won’t work.”
“I’ll start tomorrow.”

Instead of believing it automatically,
you label it gently:

“Old pattern.”

Not truth.
Not identity.
Just an old pattern.

And as you label it,
you create space.

The Redirect Technique

Now imagine a simple three-step reset:

  1. Catch it.

  2. Pause.

  3. Redirect.

Let’s practice.

You catch the thought.
You pause and take one slow breath.
You redirect to one small constructive action.

Not perfection.
Just progress.

If you feel like avoiding the task,
you commit to five minutes.

If you feel like lashing out,
you lower your tone and take one breath.

If you feel like quitting,
you take one small next step.

Small redirections break big cycles.

Releasing the Root

Now ask gently inside:

“What was this pattern protecting me from?”

Fear of failure?
Fear of rejection?
Fear of success?

Notice what arises without forcing it.

Place one hand over your chest.

Say silently:

“I no longer need this protection.”
“I am safe to grow.”

Imagine the old pattern as a heavy coat you’ve been wearing.

It once kept you warm.
But now it feels restrictive.

Visualize yourself removing that coat.
Setting it down.

You are lighter without it.

Installing the New Identity

Now imagine the version of you who no longer self-sabotages.

See how they think.
How they speak.
How they act under pressure.

Notice their posture.
Their breathing.
Their calm focus.

Step into that version now.

Feel it from the inside.

You do not wait to become this person.
You begin acting as them today.

Each time you catch and redirect,
you reinforce this new identity.

Anchoring the Redirect

Now create a simple physical anchor.

Gently press your thumb and forefinger together.

As you do, say silently:

“Catch. Pause. Redirect.”

Press again.
Feel the calm focus it brings.

This becomes your interruption switch.

Old pattern appears.
You press your fingers.
You breathe.
You choose differently.

Each repetition strengthens the new pathway.

Affirmations for Empowered Choice

Silently repeat:

I am aware of my patterns.
Awareness gives me choice.
I interrupt old behaviors calmly.
Small redirections create big change.
I act in alignment with my future self.

Let these words settle deeply into your subconscious.

Future Pacing

Imagine a future moment where you would normally self-sabotage.

See it clearly.

Watch yourself catch the signal early.
Pause.
Redirect.

Feel the pride afterward.
The stability.
The confidence.

You did not collapse into the old pattern.

You chose growth.

Reorientation

In a moment, I will count from 1 to 5.
At 5, you will return feeling clear, empowered, and steady.

1… awareness returning to your body.
2… gentle movement in your hands and feet.
3… deeper breath in.
4… feeling focused and capable.
5… eyes open, calm, and in control.

Closing Reminder

Self-sabotage is not who you are.
It is a habit.

And habits can be interrupted.

Catch it.
Pause.
Redirect.

Each time you do,
you become stronger than the pattern that once controlled you.

Remove the Mindset of Self-sabotage from your Life with Hypnotherapy

Practice self-compassion, kindness, and patience with yourself as you work through the process of removing self-sabotage from your life.

Here’s a hypnotherapy script to help remove the mindset of self-sabotage from your life:

*Induction*

“Welcome to this hypnotherapy session, where you’ll embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Allow yourself to relax, feeling the weight of your body sinking deeper into comfort with each breath. Imagine yourself in a peaceful, serene environment, free from worries and doubts.

Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, feel your eyelids growing heavy, your shoulders relaxing, and your mind quieting down. With each breath, allow yourself to let go of any tension or stress, knowing that you’re safe and in control.

As you continue to breathe deeply, imagine a warm, soothing light filling your body, starting from the crown of your head, flowing down to your toes, and back up again. This light represents relaxation, calmness, and confidence.

*Deepening*

“Now, I’d like you to imagine yourself standing at the top of a staircase, with each step leading you deeper into relaxation. With each breath, take a step down, feeling yourself becoming more relaxed, more calm, and more focused.

As you descend, repeat the following phrase to yourself: ‘I am relaxed, I am calm, I am in control.’ Allow these words to become your mantra, sinking deeper into your subconscious with each step.

*Suggestions*

“Now, imagine yourself standing in front of a mirror, looking at your reflection with kindness and compassion.

Take a deep breath, and as you exhale, repeat the following phrase: ‘I release all patterns of self-sabotage, I choose to empower myself.’

Imagine any negative thoughts, doubts, or fears related to self-sabotage rising to the surface, like bubbles in a calm lake. As they appear, acknowledge them, and then watch them float away, disappearing into the distance.

“You are now free to reprogram your mind with empowering thoughts and beliefs. Repeat after me: ‘I am worthy of success, I am deserving of happiness, I trust myself to make wise decisions.’

*Visualization*

“Imagine yourself in a scenario where you would normally self-sabotage. See yourself succeeding, feeling confident, and making decisions that align with your goals and desires. Visualize the outcome you desire, with vivid colors, sights, and emotions.

As you see yourself succeeding, repeat the following phrase: ‘I am capable, I am strong, I am deserving of success.’ Allow this phrase to become your truth, sinking deeper into your subconscious with each repetition.

*Reinforcement*

“Remember, you have the power to choose your thoughts, emotions, and actions. You are in control of your life, and you can reprogram your mind to work in your favor.

Repeat after me: ‘I choose to believe in myself, I choose to trust myself, I choose to empower myself.’ Allow these words to become your mantra, guiding you towards a life free from self-sabotage.

*Awakening*

“As you come back to a state of full awareness, remember that you are strong, capable, and deserving of a life free from self-sabotage. Take a deep breath, feeling refreshed, renewed, and empowered.

When you open your eyes, you’ll feel more confident, more focused, and more in control. You’ll carry this sense of empowerment with you, making choices that align with your goals and desires.”

*Final Thoughts*

“Remember to practice self-compassion, kindness, and patience with yourself as you work through the process of removing self-sabotage from your life. Celebrate your small wins, and don’t be too hard on yourself when you encounter setbacks.

You are capable of change, and with this hypnotherapy script, you’ve taken the first step towards a life free from self-sabotage. Keep repeating the phrases, visualizing your success, and trusting yourself to make wise decisions. You got this!”
