Past life regression is a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations. Past-life regression is typically undertaken either in pursuit of a spiritual experience.

Hypnotherapy clients are guided into a relaxed state of awareness via hypnosis, to relive and resolve scenes or challenges from past lives that manifest into current life issues.

Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy or PLR

Past Life Regression is a gentle form of hypnotherapy which takes an individual back through time to their previous lives or incarnations by accessing memories and experiences that are normally hidden in their subconscious mind. Life today is so busy and so ‘noisy’ that these memories are usually concealed beneath the noise of everyday thoughts. A PLR session guides you out of the noise and into a deeply quiet and peaceful state where it’s far easier to locate the memories held in your subconscious mind.

Past life regression hypnosis is used to recall past lives and seeks to bring into consciousness hidden or repressed memories that have been carried forward from a previous lifetime or incarnation.

During a session, I will use guided imagery or hypnosis to regress the client to a point in the past. This point may be a previous life or a specific time during the client’s childhood. Once these memories become part of conscious memory, the client is often able to work through many conflicts, release possible spiritual blockages and examine any lessons learned from a spiritual perspective.

Past Life Regression can help you to:

  • Reconnect with past life experiences.
  • Help you understand why you feel a deep connection with certain places.
  • Explore your past life and current Soulmate experiences.
  • Identify physical ailments you have, which may be remnants of past life experiences.
  • Explore unresolved emotions which have carried through into this lifetime, creating fears or beliefs which you have been unable to explain.
  • Acknowledge and embrace the key lessons learned through those lives.

During A Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy Session

Hypnosis aims to subdue or move past the analytical/rational/logical behaviour of the conscious mind and gain access to the workings of the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is a mind boggling landscape of infinite wisdom, capacity, knowledge, creativity and potential. With the clients limiting beliefs out the way, the hypnosis practitioner can start gaining access to this landscape. The very nature of these factors of the subconscious mind may be the doorway that allows access to past life experiences. However, since the sense-making part of the mind is subdued it is down to the skill of the hypnotist to help the client navigate their way around their past life and to help them make sense of what they are experiencing.

The following is some of the questions in the Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy script after you have arrived in that spirit, in that lifetime and in that place.

More background on Reincarnation and Past Life Regression

The idea of reincarnation is that after death – an individual may be reborn into another body. This idea has existed in various religions for at least 3,000 years and in many ancient cultures for much longer – such as Shamanism, Druidism, Native American tribes and Norse mythology.

There is a widely held spiritual belief that each of us goes through a series of lifetimes for the purpose of spiritual growth and soul development. Reincarnation is closely linked to the concept of Karma – a Sanskrit term relating to cause and effect.

It is said that more people on the planet believe in reincarnation, so by implication are open to past life regression, than do not.

Past Life Regression therapy has been developed since the 1950s.

In the USA and Western Europe, studies have shown that 25% to 30% of people believe in reincarnation.

Reincarnation has been both a philosophical and a religious concept.

Philosophers such as Orpheus, Plato, Pythagoras and Socrates all believed in reincarnation.

Other prominent believers include: Benjamin Franklin, Napoleon Bonaparte, Henry Ford and General George S. Patton.

The major religions that hold a belief in reincarnation are Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism – all of Indian origin.

Although other major religions do not centrally believe in re-incarnation, particular groups within these religions, such as Kabbalah do. A proportion of people from all religions believe in reincarnation irrespective of the teachings of their faiths.

One of the best-known studies into Past Life Experience is by Dr. Ian Stevenson. Over a period of forty years, he investigated and documented some 3,000 cases of children around the world claiming to recollect past-life memories. Stevenson published hundreds of papers and 14 books on reincarnation. He concluded that memories, emotions, and even physical injuries in the form of birthmarks could be transferred from one life to another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you fully trained in Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy?

Yes, I (Gerald) have been fully trained in Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy since 2016 and have worked with many clients. As well as one-to-one sessions, I also hold group past life regression sessions.

Will you remember the regression?

Yes, you will remember everything as I guide you through the journey. Past Life Regression is not like stage hypnosis – you won’t be doing anything you don’t remember. You will be aware throughout and in a deeply relaxed state. You’ll be answering my questions as I guide you through the journey. All you’ll need to do is relax. Just allow whatever comes into your mind to do so, and I will guide you from there.

What will you encounter during the sessions?

Some people discover lives that they have shared with people that they have a close bond with in their present life. Others are drawn to certain places or countries that they immediately feel comfortable and familiar with. Each life explored is a journey and an adventure.

Am I guaranteed to go back in time?

Not everyone is guaranteed to, though it’s fairly rare that someone doesn’t in my experience. Sometimes when an individual has a firm belief that past lives don’t exist then it can create a block which doesn’t allow their mind to surrender to the experience. We tend to find that around 95% of clients do have one or more past life experiences during each regression. All you need is a curiosity about the subject.

Can I choose what past life to remember?

No. Your subconscious mind will make that decision for you. You will only remember various past life memories when you are ready to. I believe we have all had many past lives, but it’s your subconscious mind that will choose which ones to visit during your regression.

Is the process safe?

Yes, you will be safe throughout the process.

How long does a Past Life Regression session last?

The regression itself generally lasts around 90 minutes to one hour, and this is followed with discussion about your experience. I like to talk with you before and after the session, so I would ask for up to 2 hours to be kept aside. In essence, the length of the session will be determined by what unfolds. Every session is unique.

Does my session have to be face to face?

I offer Past Life Regression face to face in Stellenbosch only or as a home visit.

While there are many ways that you can achieve a past life regression to recall past life memories. It is important to keep the following in mind.

Relax.

In order to let your mind wander deeper into the past, your body must be as relaxed as possible so that you are not physically or mentally distracted by your present carnation.

Don’t over analyze or stress about what you might experience.

Over analysis prevents you from relaxing completely. Set aside judgment. Act as an observer during your regression and save judgment for your research afterward.

Don’t be afraid of what you’ll discover.

Many people fear they will find out they did something terrible in a past life. Everyone makes mistakes, including the previous incarnations of you. While you can’t change what you did in a past life, you have total control over what you do in this one.

Open your mind to the possibility what you are seeing might actually be true.

If you begin seeing flashes of memory but automatically dismiss them, what’s the point? In order to make any progress in past life regression, you need to be open to what you see and prepared to take it seriously.
