Hypnotherapy Script for Addressing Aggression, Bullying, and Swearing in an 11-Year-Old Boy
Title: “Being a Positive Influence”
Introduction:
“Hello, [boy’s name], I’m so glad you’re here. Today, we’re going to talk about being a positive influence and making good choices. You’re a smart and talented young man, and I know you have the power to make a difference. Are you ready to learn some new skills and become an even more awesome version of yourself?”
Induction:
“Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, and take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel the air moving in and out of your body. Now, imagine yourself in a safe and happy place. This could be a favorite park, a beach, or even your own backyard. Take a moment to think about what that place looks like, smells like, and feels like. As you breathe in, imagine fresh, calm air filling your body. As you breathe out, imagine any worries or stress leaving your body.”
Deepening:
“Now, imagine a warm, comforting light starting to fill your body. It’s like a big hug from the inside out. As this light spreads, it helps you feel more relaxed and calm. Your eyelids start to feel heavy, and your breathing slows down. You’re getting sleepier and sleepier, but you’re still aware of everything around you. Imagine yourself drifting down, down, down into a peaceful place, where you can think clearly and make good choices.”
Identifying Causes and Issues:
“Sometimes, we might feel angry or frustrated, and that’s okay. It’s normal to feel those emotions. But what’s not okay is taking those feelings out on others or using bad language. Let’s talk about what might be causing you to feel this way. Is it something at school, at home, or with friends? Take a moment to think about what might be triggering these feelings. Imagine yourself in a situation where you feel angry or frustrated. What’s happening? What are you thinking? What are you feeling?”
Addressing Aggression and Bullying:
“Being a positive influence means treating others with kindness and respect. It means being a good friend and a good classmate. Imagine yourself in a situation where you might normally feel angry or frustrated. This time, though, you’re going to take a deep breath and choose to respond differently. You’re going to use your words to express how you’re feeling, and you’re going to do it in a way that’s respectful and kind. You’re going to be a problem-solver, not a problem-maker. You’re going to be a positive influence, not a negative one.”
Addressing Swearing:
“Using bad language is not cool, and it’s not something that we do. It’s not a way to express ourselves or to fit in with others. In fact, it’s often a sign of weakness, not strength. Imagine yourself in a situation where you might normally use bad language. This time, though, you’re going to choose a different word or phrase. You’re going to use language that’s respectful and kind. You’re going to be a positive role model for others, and you’re going to make good choices with your words.”
Building Confidence and Self-Esteem:
“Being a positive influence means being confident and kind. It means believing in yourself and your abilities. Imagine yourself doing something you’re good at, something that makes you feel proud. It could be playing a sport, drawing a picture, or helping someone in need. Take a moment to think about what you’re good at and what you enjoy doing. Now, imagine yourself doing that thing, and feeling proud of yourself for doing it well. You’re a capable and talented young man, and you deserve to feel good about yourself.”
Post-Hypnotic Suggestions:
“Remember, you have the power to choose how you respond to situations. You can choose to be a positive influence, to treat others with kindness and respect. You can choose to use good language and to express yourself in a way that’s respectful and kind. You’re a smart and talented young man, and you deserve to feel good about yourself. Repeat this to yourself every day: ‘I am a positive influence, I am confident and kind, and I make good choices.'”
Counting Up:
“When I count to five, you’ll slowly start to come back to the present moment. You’ll feel refreshed, renewed, and ready to take on the world. One… you’re starting to feel more alert. Two… you’re becoming more aware of your surroundings. Three… you’re getting more energized and focused. Four… you’re almost back to the present moment. Five… you’re back! Take a deep breath, and when you’re ready, you can open your eyes. How do you feel?”
Conclusion:
“Great job, [boy’s name]! You did an amazing job of working through some tough issues and making positive choices. Remember, you have the power to choose how you respond to situations, and you can always choose to be a positive influence.
