Move Through Feelings of Body Shame

A Hypnotherapy Script for Self-Acceptance, Compassion, and Body Healing

Induction – Returning to Safety in the Body

Begin by sitting or lying in a comfortable position…

Allow your eyes to gently close…

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose…
And exhale softly through your mouth…

Again… breathing in calm…
Breathing out tension…

Let your breathing settle into a natural rhythm.

Notice the surface beneath you supporting your body.

You are held.
You are safe.
You are allowed to be here exactly as you are.

Bring gentle awareness to the top of your head…
Relax your forehead…
Soften your eyes…
Unclench your jaw…

Let your shoulders drop…

Allow a wave of relaxation to flow down your arms…
Through your chest…
Your stomach…
Your hips…
Your legs…
All the way to your feet…

There is nothing to change in this moment.

Only awareness.

Deepening – Entering Your Inner Healing Space

Imagine yourself walking along a peaceful path…

Perhaps in nature…
A quiet beach…
A sunlit meadow…
A forest clearing…

Ahead of you is a beautiful mirror standing in this safe space.

This mirror reflects not just your appearance —
But your energy.
Your history.
Your strength.

Step in front of the mirror.

And notice what feelings arise.

There may be discomfort…
Judgment…
Criticism…
Embarrassment…

Simply observe.

You are not here to criticize yourself.

You are here to understand.

Meeting the Shame

Now gently ask:

“When did I first begin to feel ashamed of my body?”

Allow any memory, voice, or image to surface.

Perhaps it was a comment…
A comparison…
A rejection…
A cultural message…

Notice that shame was learned.

It was not born within you.

Place your hand over your heart and say silently:

“This shame is not my true identity.”
“I was taught to see myself this way.”
“I am choosing something new.”

Feel the truth of that.

Separating Your Body from the Story

Now look at your reflection again.

Instead of judging shape, size, scars, or differences…

See your body as a loyal companion.

This body has carried you through life.

It has survived stress.
It has adapted.
It has protected you.
It has allowed you to experience love, touch, movement, breath.

Silently say to your body:

“Thank you for carrying me.”
“Thank you for protecting me.”
“I am sorry for judging you.”

Notice what shifts inside.

Shame begins to soften when compassion enters.

Releasing the Weight of Comparison

Now imagine the mirror transforming.

It no longer reflects unrealistic standards.

It reflects vitality, uniqueness, and strength.

Imagine gently removing labels that were placed upon you:

“Not good enough.”
“Too much.”
“Not enough.”
“Unattractive.”
“Flawed.”

See these labels dissolving into light.

They were never facts.

They were opinions absorbed from outside.

You release them now.

Installing Body Respect

Repeat slowly, allowing these words to settle deeply:

My body is not my enemy.
My body deserves kindness.
I am more than appearance.
I choose respect over criticism.
I can care for my body without hating it.
I am worthy exactly as I am.

Feel these beliefs integrating into your nervous system.

Your breathing becomes steadier.

Your posture softens.

Your heart feels lighter.

Future Integration

Imagine a future moment — looking in a mirror, getting dressed, or being seen by others.

Notice yourself responding differently.

Instead of harsh thoughts, you pause.

You breathe.

You choose neutrality or kindness.

You speak gently to yourself.

And that gentleness becomes your new pattern.

Shame no longer controls you.

Self-respect does.

Awakening

In a moment, I will count from 1 to 5.

At 5, you will return feeling grounded, lighter, and more compassionate toward yourself.

1… awareness returning
2… clarity increasing
3… gently moving your fingers and toes
4… taking a deep, refreshing breath
5… eyes open, calm, centered, and more at home in your body
