Here’s a clean, trauma-informed EFT Tapping + Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT-E) script you can use one-to-one or adapt for guided sessions. It’s written in a gentle, client-centred voice, non-diagnostic, and suitable for complex presentations like depression, grief, trauma, chronic pain, sleep issues, and weight challenges.
Case Study 00217
Date: 5 February 2026
Modality: EFT Tapping with Emotionally Focused Therapy
Focus Areas: Depression, Trauma, Grief, Sleep Difficulties, Chronic Pain, Weight Regulation
Therapeutic Intention
To create emotional safety, validate lived experience, gently access core emotions, and support nervous system regulation while releasing emotional distress stored in the body.
Opening Grounding (Facilitator Script)
“Before we begin, take a moment to notice your body.
Notice the chair supporting you… your feet on the ground…
There is nothing you need to fix right now.
We are simply allowing what is present to be acknowledged.”
Emotionally Focused Check-In
“When you think about what has been weighing on you lately…
what feeling stands out the most right now?”
(Allow client to name one core emotion: sadness, heaviness, exhaustion, numbness, grief, fear, overwhelm.)
“Where do you feel this in your body?”
(Encourage body awareness, not analysis.)
EFT Tapping – Setup Statement (Karate Chop Point)
Repeat 3 times, slowly and with compassion:
“Even though I’ve been carrying so much for so long—
the sadness, the grief, the pain, the exhaustion—
I deeply honour my experience and allow myself to be present with it now.”
Alternative (if resistance is present):
“Even though part of me is tired of feeling this way,
and part of me doesn’t know how to let go,
I accept myself exactly as I am in this moment.”
Tapping Round 1 – Acknowledging the Emotional Bond
Eyebrow:
“This heaviness I’ve been carrying”
Side of Eye:
“So much sadness and emotional weight”
Under Eye:
“Grief that hasn’t had space to breathe”
Under Nose:
“Old pain still living in my body”
Chin:
“This exhaustion from holding it all together”
Collarbone:
“My body has been trying to protect me”
Under Arm:
“Even through the pain and the sleepless nights”
Top of Head:
“All of this makes sense”
Emotionally Focused Reflection (Pause)
“If this feeling could speak, what would it want you to know?”
(Reflect back the client’s words without correcting or reframing.)
Tapping Round 2 – Soothing the Nervous System
Eyebrow:
“I’m allowed to feel this safely now”
Side of Eye:
“I don’t have to rush healing”
Under Eye:
“My body has been doing its best”
Under Nose:
“Even with the pain, the weight, the fatigue”
Chin:
“I acknowledge what I’ve been through”
Collarbone:
“I offer myself compassion instead of pressure”
Under Arm:
“Letting my system soften just a little”
Top of Head:
“Right now is enough”
Trauma-Sensitive Reframe (No Bypassing)
“What you’re feeling is not weakness.
It is your system responding to loss, stress, and survival.
You are not broken—you are responding.”
Tapping Round 3 – Integration and Hope
Eyebrow:
“I may not know how everything will heal”
Side of Eye:
“But I’m open to small shifts”
Under Eye:
“Moments of rest, relief, and calm”
Under Nose:
“My body is allowed to release what it’s ready to let go of”
Chin:
“Even one layer at a time”
Collarbone:
“I can sleep, breathe, and soften safely”
Under Arm:
“I don’t have to carry this alone anymore”
Top of Head:
“I choose gentleness on my healing journey”
Closing Integration
“Take a slow breath in…
and out.
Notice any shift—no matter how small.
Healing doesn’t arrive all at once; it unfolds as safety grows.”
