Pride is not caused by confidence, it’s caused by insecurity.
Here’s a hypnotherapy script aimed at reducing pride caused by insecurity:
Induction
(Soft, calming music plays in the background)
“Welcome to this hypnotherapy session, where you’ll work through pride and insecurity. Allow yourself to settle in, getting comfortable and relaxed. Take a deep breath in… and out… Feel your body let go, starting from your toes, up to the top of your head. As you exhale, imagine any tension, stress, or anxiety leaving your body.”
Deepening
“Imagine yourself standing in a peaceful, serene environment, surrounded by calming sights and sounds. With each breath, feel your feet connecting with the ground, becoming more grounded and centered. As you inhale, visualize fresh, calming air filling your lungs. As you exhale, imagine any negative thoughts or emotions floating away. Allow yourself to let go, surrendering to the present moment.”
Identifying the Emotion
“Now, imagine a situation where you felt prideful or superior. Perhaps it was due to a specific achievement, trait, or characteristic. Allow the emotion to surface, but don’t engage with it yet. Simply observe it, acknowledging the feelings that arise. How did you feel in that moment? What emotions did you experience?”
Understanding the Root
“Take a step back and examine the root of pride. Recognize that it’s often fueled by insecurity, fear, or a need for validation. Understand that these emotions can be intense, leading to pride and a sense of superiority. Acknowledge that you have the power to choose how you respond to these emotions and that you can work towards building self-confidence and self-acceptance.”
Releasing Pride
“Imagine a large, inflated balloon in front of you, representing pride. See the balloon begin to deflate, symbolizing your release from these feelings. As the balloon disappears, feel the lightness and freedom that comes with letting go. Repeat to yourself:
* ‘I release the feeling of pride.’
* ‘I choose to cultivate self-acceptance and self-compassion.’
* ‘I trust that I am worthy of love and respect, regardless of my achievements.'”
Fostering Self-Acceptance
“Visualize a warm, nurturing light filling your body, representing self-acceptance and self-compassion. As this light grows, it guides you to appreciate yourself and your unique qualities. Imagine yourself practicing self-care, self-forgiveness, and self-love. Allow this sense of self-acceptance to become your guiding force.”
Empowering Self-Confidence
“From this place of self-acceptance, repeat the following affirmations to yourself:
* ‘I trust that I am capable and competent.’
* ‘I choose to focus on my strengths and accomplishments.’
* ‘I am worthy of love, respect, and happiness, regardless of my achievements.'”
Integration and Awakening
“Take a few deep breaths, feeling the insights and new perspectives integrating into your subconscious mind. As you slowly come back to full awareness, remember that you’ve been empowered to overcome pride and build self-confidence. Carry this sense of self-acceptance and self-compassion with you, applying it to your daily life. When you feel the urge to experience pride or insecurity, recall this feeling of empowerment and remind yourself that you are worthy of love and respect, regardless of your achievements.”
Counting Up
“When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes. Take a deep breath in, feeling refreshed, renewed, and more confident in your ability to build self-confidence and self-acceptance. As you return to your day, remember that you’ve taken a significant step towards personal growth, healing, and positive change.”
