Releasing self-guilt involves acknowledging the situation, accepting responsibility, and actively working towards forgiveness and moving forward.

Here is a hypnotherapy script designed to help release self-guilt:

Induction

(Soft, calming music plays in the background)

“Welcome to this hypnotherapy session, where you’ll release self-guilt and cultivate self-compassion. Find a comfortable seated or lying position, close your eyes, and take a deep breath in… and out… Allow yourself to relax, letting go of any tension or stress.

Imagine yourself standing in a peaceful, serene environment, surrounded by a warm, comforting light. This light represents safety, protection, and compassion. With each breath, allow your body to relax further, sinking into a state of deep relaxation.”

Deepening

“As you continue to breathe deeply, imagine yourself descending a staircase, leading to a deeper level of relaxation and inner awareness. With each step, feel yourself becoming more relaxed, more calm, and more connected to your inner self.

At the bottom of the staircase, you find yourself in a peaceful, sacred space. This space represents your inner sanctuary, where you can confront and release self-guilt. Allow yourself to settle into this space, feeling the warmth, comfort, and compassion that surrounds you.”

Confronting Self-Guilt

“Now, bring to mind a situation or experience that has left you feeling guilty. See it in your mind’s eye, but this time, imagine approaching it with compassion and understanding. Speak to yourself in a gentle, supportive voice, just as you would to a dear friend.

‘May I be free from guilt, may I be free from self-criticism, may I be free from regret.’ Repeat these words to yourself, allowing the feelings of compassion and understanding to sink deeply into your heart.

Remember, guilt is not who you are; it’s an emotion that has been holding you back. Allow yourself to acknowledge and accept this emotion, but also remind yourself that you’re doing the best you can, and that’s something to be proud of.”

Releasing Self-Guilt

“Imagine a weight or burden that represents your self-guilt. See it in your mind’s eye, and imagine taking a deep breath in… and out… As you exhale, imagine this weight beginning to lift, slowly rising up and out of your body.

As it leaves your body, imagine any negative emotions, thoughts, or memories associated with guilt being released, dissolving into the air. You are free from the weight of guilt, free to live your life with greater ease, compassion, and understanding.

Repeat the following phrase to yourself: ‘I release self-guilt, I forgive myself.’ Allow the feelings of forgiveness and compassion to rise up, filling your heart and mind.”

Self-Compassion

“Now, imagine yourself surrounded by a warm, comforting light. This light represents self-compassion and understanding. Allow this light to fill your entire being, nurturing your mind, heart, and soul.

Repeat the following phrases to yourself:

‘I am enough, just as I am.

I am doing the best I can, and that’s something to be proud of.

I am worthy of love, compassion, and forgiveness – not just from others, but from myself as well.’

Allow these words to sink deeply into your heart, filling you with a sense of self-compassion and understanding.”

Integration

“As you continue to relax, imagine integrating these feelings of self-compassion and release into your daily life. Envision yourself responding to challenging situations with kindness, understanding, and patience.

Remember, you are doing the best you can, and that’s something to be proud of. You are worthy of love, compassion, and forgiveness – not just from others, but from yourself as well.

Take a deep breath in, and out, and when you’re ready, slowly open your eyes. Take a moment to notice how you’re feeling before getting up and going about your day.”

Counting

“Take one final, deep breath in… and out… When I’m done counting, you’ll be back to full awareness, feeling refreshed, renewed, and more compassionate towards yourself and others.5…4…3…2…1… Eyes open, take a deep breath in, and enjoy the rest of your day.”
