Gadgets are great, but they can get in the way if you aren’t careful. Control them so they don’t control you. Put down the phone when you’re socializing. Don’t avoid eye contact. Don’t hide behind a screen. Be present.
Here is a hypnotherapy script to help you start being more present:
Induction
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, allow your body to relax, letting go of any tension or stress. Imagine yourself sinking deeper into relaxation with each breath.
Imagine yourself standing at the top of a staircase, with each step leading you deeper into relaxation. With each breath, take a step down, feeling your body becoming heavier, sleepier, and more relaxed.
As you reach the bottom of the staircase, imagine yourself in a peaceful, calm place, surrounded by warmth and comfort. This is your safe space, where you can cultivate presence.
Deepening
Allow yourself to settle even deeper into relaxation, feeling your body becoming heavier, your mind quieter, and your spirit more open.
Imagine a warm, soothing light filling your entire body, dissolving any remaining tension or stress. As this light circulates through your body, it awakens your sense of presence and awareness.
Being Present
Now, bring to mind a moment when you felt fully present and engaged. It could be a beautiful sunset, a good conversation with a friend, or a challenging task that required your attention.
As you hold this moment in your mind, imagine a small, delicate leaf in front of you. This leaf represents your presence and awareness.
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, imagine gently blowing on the leaf. See the leaf unfolding, revealing its intricate details and beauty.
Repeat the following affirmation to yourself, allowing the words to sink deeply into your subconscious mind:
“I am present in this moment. I let go of distractions and focus on the here and now.”
Visualization
Imagine yourself in a situation where you would normally feel distracted or preoccupied. See yourself responding with presence and awareness, focusing on the task at hand.
As you visualize yourself responding with presence, feel a sense of clarity and focus growing within you. Know that you have the power to choose your focus and attention.
Reframing
Now, imagine reframing your thoughts about presence and distraction. Instead of getting caught up in distractions, see them as opportunities to practice presence and awareness.
Repeat the following affirmation to yourself, allowing the words to become a part of your inner dialogue:
“Every moment is an opportunity to practice presence and awareness. I focus on the here and now.”
Closing
Take a moment to integrate the insights and feelings from this journey. Know that you have the power to be more present in your daily life.
As you slowly open your eyes, remember to carry this sense of presence with you, and to yourself, as you go about your day:
“I am present in this moment. I let go of distractions and focus on the here and now.”
Remember to use this script in a relaxing and comfortable environment, and to adjust the language and imagery to suit the individual’s needs and preferences.
