EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) – Emotionally Focused Therapy Script
Client Presentation:
Bad Habits, Vaping, Smoking, Cravings, Stress, Anxiety, Emotional Dependence, Habitual Behaviour Patterns, Self-Control Challenges, and Desire for Positive Change.
Purpose of Session:
To reduce cravings, release emotional attachment to smoking and vaping, improve emotional regulation, strengthen self-control, and create healthier coping mechanisms.
Subjective Units of Distress (SUDS):
Before beginning, rate your current craving, urge, or emotional discomfort on a scale of 0–10.
Step 1: Identify the Issue
Take a slow, deep breath.
Focus on:
- The urge to smoke or vape.
- The emotions connected to the habit.
- Any stress, anxiety, boredom, loneliness, frustration, or discomfort associated with the craving.
Notice where you feel it in your body.
Give it a number between 0 and 10.
Step 2: Setup Statement
Tap continuously on the Karate Chop Point while repeating three times:

“Even though I have this urge to smoke or vape, I deeply and completely accept myself.”
“Even though part of me believes I need smoking or vaping to cope, I choose to accept myself and remain open to change.”
“Even though this habit has become part of my routine, I am willing to release what no longer serves me.”
Step 3: EFT Tapping Round One
Acknowledging the Craving

Repeat this EFT process daily, especially during cravings, stressful situations, or moments when old habits are triggered. Consistent practice can help reinforce healthier coping strategies and support long-term freedom from smoking and vaping.
