Professional Hypnotherapy Script for a Sporty Teenager with Anxiety and Fear of Failure

Purpose: Performance anxiety, fear of failure, confidence building, resilience, emotional regulation.

Length: 20–30 minutes

Induction

“Make yourself comfortable and allow your eyes to gently close.

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose…

Hold it for a moment…

And exhale slowly.

Again…

Breathing in calm…

And breathing out tension.

One more time…

Breathing in confidence…

And breathing out worry.

As you continue breathing naturally, become aware of the surface supporting you.

Notice that you don’t have to hold yourself up.

The chair supports you.

The floor supports you.

And for these next few minutes, you can simply allow yourself to let go.

Bring your attention to the muscles around your eyes.

Allow them to soften.

The muscles in your jaw relax.

Your neck relaxes.

Your shoulders loosen.

Any tension that has been carried from training, school, competition, or expectations can begin to melt away.

A pleasant feeling of relaxation moves down through your arms…

Your chest…

Your stomach…

Your hips…

Your legs…

And all the way down to your feet.

Every breath allows your mind to become quieter and more focused.

Every breath takes you deeper into a state of calm awareness.”

Deepener

“Imagine that you are standing at the top of a staircase with ten steps leading downward.

At the bottom is a place where you perform at your very best.

A place of confidence, focus, and enjoyment.

As I count from ten down to one, allow yourself to drift deeper.

10… stepping down.

9… feeling safe.

8… relaxing more completely.

7… letting go.

6… deeper and calmer.

5… halfway down.

4… becoming comfortably absorbed.

3… peaceful and focused.

2… almost there.

1… deeply relaxed.

You arrive in your special place.

Perhaps it is a sports field.

A track.

A court.

A gym.

Or somewhere completely personal to you.

Notice the details.

The sounds.

The colours.

The atmosphere.

This place represents your natural ability to learn, grow, and succeed.”

Therapeutic Phase

“As you stand in this place, imagine there is a large scoreboard in front of you.

On that scoreboard appears a word:

Failure.

Notice any thoughts or feelings connected to that word.

Without judging them.

Without fighting them.

Simply observing.

Now imagine stepping closer to the scoreboard.

As you do, you begin to see that the word is changing.

The letters slowly transform.

Failure becomes…

Feedback.

Every athlete experiences setbacks.

Every champion has made mistakes.

Every skilled performer has experienced disappointment.

Not because they were weak.

But because growth requires learning.

And learning requires experience.

The mind now begins to understand something important.

A result does not define a person.

A performance does not define a person.

A mistake does not define a person.

You are far more than any score, result, or outcome.

Your worth remains constant.

Your value remains unchanged.

And with this understanding comes freedom.

Freedom to compete.

Freedom to learn.

Freedom to improve.

Freedom to enjoy the process.

You begin to notice that anxiety has often been trying to protect you.

Trying to prevent embarrassment.

Trying to prevent disappointment.

Trying to keep you safe.

And you can thank that part of yourself for trying to help.

But now it can learn a new role.

Instead of creating fear…

It can create focus.

Instead of creating tension…

It can create readiness.

Instead of creating doubt…

It can create awareness.

From this day forward, whenever you notice nervousness before a performance, your mind automatically interprets it differently.

Not as danger.

But as energy.

Not as fear.

But as preparation.

Not as weakness.

But as readiness.

You understand that the sensations of excitement and confidence are remarkably similar.

And your mind now chooses confidence.”

Ego Strengthening

“Deep inside you is a strong and capable athlete.

A person who trains.

Learns.

Adapts.

Persists.

And grows.

That person has always been there.

Every challenge you have overcome has strengthened that person.

Every obstacle has developed resilience.

Every training session has built discipline.

Every setback has built wisdom.

And every success has demonstrated what is possible.

You trust your preparation.

You trust your abilities.

You trust your capacity to learn.

You are becoming calmer under pressure.

More focused under pressure.

More confident under pressure.

And each experience becomes another opportunity to grow stronger.”

Future Rehearsal

“Now imagine an upcoming competition, game, race, trial, or performance.

See yourself arriving calm and composed.

Your breathing is steady.

Your mind is clear.

Your body feels strong.

Notice yourself preparing.

Notice your posture.

Notice your focus.

You remain fully present.

Not worrying about the future.

Not replaying the past.

Focused only on this moment.

See yourself performing freely.

Confidently.

Naturally.

Trusting your training.

Trusting your instincts.

And whatever the outcome, you leave knowing you have gained something valuable.

Experience.

Knowledge.

Growth.

Confidence.

Because every experience contributes to your development.”

Post-Hypnotic Suggestion

“From now on, whenever you take a slow breath and gently press your thumb and forefinger together, a feeling of calm confidence begins to flow through your mind and body.

Your breathing becomes steady.

Your focus sharpens.

Your confidence returns.

And you remember:

‘I am prepared.’

‘I am capable.’

‘I am learning.’

‘I am growing.’

‘I do not need to be perfect.’

‘I only need to give my best.’

These beliefs become stronger every day.”

Awakening

“In a moment I will count from one to five.

With each number you become more alert, refreshed, and energized.

1… becoming aware of your surroundings.

2… bringing back confidence and calm.

3… feeling refreshed and balanced.

4… taking a deep energizing breath.

5… eyes open, fully awake, feeling confident, clear-minded, and ready to move forward.”

End of Session.
