PART ONE — PRE-FLIGHT PREPARATION

Professional Hypnotherapy Recording Script

Fear of Flying — Preparation Before the Journey

PRE-INDUCTION

Before we begin, make sure you are somewhere safe and comfortable.

You do not need to solve anything right now.

You do not need to fight the fear.

And you do not need to know exactly how you are going to feel when you fly.

For these next few minutes, your only responsibility is to allow your mind and body to become comfortable with the idea of travelling.

Take a slow, gentle breath in…

And slowly breathe out.

And again…

Breathing in calm…

And breathing out tension.

There is nothing you need to achieve.

Just listen to my voice…

And allow your mind to begin preparing for the journey ahead.

INDUCTION

Now close your eyes…

And bring your attention to your breathing.

Notice the natural rhythm of your breath.

You don’t have to change it.

Simply notice it.

And with every breath, allow your shoulders to become a little softer…

Your jaw to relax…

Your hands to become comfortable…

And your body to settle.

Imagine a wave of relaxation beginning at the top of your head…

Moving slowly down through your face…

Your neck…

Your shoulders…

Down your arms…

Into your hands and fingers.

And that relaxation continues down through your chest…

Your stomach…

Your hips…

Your legs…

All the way down to your feet.

Your body knows how to relax.

And today, you are reminding your mind of something important:

You can feel safe even when you feel nervous.

DEEPENER

In a moment, I will count slowly from five down to one.

With each number, allow yourself to become more relaxed and more confident.

Five…

Beginning to let go.

Four…

Breathing calmly and comfortably.

Three…

Your mind becoming quieter.

Two…

Your body becoming heavier and more relaxed.

One…

Deeply relaxed…

Calm…

Present…

And prepared.

THE PRE-FLIGHT JOURNEY

Now imagine yourself thinking about the upcoming flight.

You don’t have to imagine every detail.

Simply allow yourself to know:

The journey is approaching, and I am preparing myself calmly.

Perhaps there was a time when your mind learned to associate flying with danger.

Perhaps your imagination created pictures, sensations or thoughts that made flying feel threatening.

But your mind can learn.

And what the mind has learned…

It can learn differently.

From this moment forward, you can begin creating a new association.

Flying can become a journey rather than a threat.

You can acknowledge your thoughts without believing every thought.

You can notice a sensation without interpreting it as danger.

You can experience nervousness without allowing nervousness to control you.

Because there is a difference between feeling uncomfortable

And being unsafe.

Your body may sometimes produce sensations of excitement or anticipation.

Your heart may beat a little faster.

Your stomach may feel different.

You may notice butterflies.

And you can simply say:

“My body is responding. I am still safe.”

Take a breath…

And allow that thought to settle deeply into your mind.

INSTALLING CALM

Now imagine yourself on the day of your flight.

You are getting ready.

You know where you are going.

You know what you need to do.

And you move through each step calmly.

Getting ready…

Leaving home…

Travelling to the airport…

Arriving at the airport…

Checking in…

Walking through the terminal…

And waiting for your flight.

One step at a time.

You don’t have to experience the entire flight today.

You only need to experience the next step.

And then the next.

And then the next.

Your mind can remain focused on the present moment.

You can breathe.

You can observe.

You can relax.

And you can remind yourself:

“I don’t have to control everything to be okay.”

“I can allow the professionals to do their jobs.”

“I can relax and allow myself to be carried through the journey.”

FUTURE PACING

Now imagine yourself sitting comfortably before the flight.

You notice the thoughts that might normally create anxiety.

And instead of fighting them, you breathe.

Slowly…

Gently…

Naturally.

You tell yourself:

“I have prepared myself.”

“I know what to do.”

“I can breathe.”

“I can remain present.”

“I can allow myself to feel calm.”

And imagine yourself becoming increasingly comfortable with these words.

Your unconscious mind is learning a new response.

A calmer response.

A more resourceful response.

A response based on trust rather than fear.

And every time you practise this recording before your flight, you strengthen that response.

YOUR CALM ANCHOR

Now take a slow breath in…

And as you breathe out, gently press your thumb and finger together.

Create a simple physical anchor for calm.

Thumb and finger together…

Breathing slowly…

Relaxing your shoulders…

And saying silently:

“Calm and capable.”

Again…

Thumb and finger together…

Slow breath…

“Calm and capable.”

Your mind can begin connecting this simple action with feelings of calm, steadiness and confidence.

You can use this anchor whenever you want during your journey.

CLOSING SUGGESTIONS

And now, before you finish this recording, allow yourself to recognise something important.

You are not required to become fearless.

You are learning to become free to travel despite fear.

Confidence does not mean that you never feel nervous.

Confidence means knowing that you can handle whatever feelings arise.

You can breathe.

You can remain present.

You can remind yourself:

“This is a feeling.”

“This feeling will pass.”

“I am capable.”

“I am prepared.”

“One moment at a time.”

And your mind can continue practising this calm response between now and your flight.

Allow yourself to rest.

Allow your body to relax.

Allow your mind to prepare.

And when the time comes to travel, you can simply take the next step…

And then the next…

Calmly…

Naturally…

One moment at a time.

AWAKENING

In a moment, I will count from one to five.

At five, you will return to your normal waking awareness, feeling refreshed, grounded and prepared.

One…

Beginning to bring your awareness back to the room.

Two…

Feeling your body becoming more awake.

Three…

Taking a deeper, comfortable breath.

Four…

Moving your hands and feet gently.

And five…

Eyes open…

Fully awake…

Calm…

Grounded…

And prepared.

Take one more slow breath…

And remind yourself:

“I am ready to take this journey one step at a time.”
