30 AFFIRMATIONS TO HELP YOU COPE WITH YOUR FEAR OF FLYING, RELATED PHOBIAS & PERFORMANCE
From Fear to Calm • From Anxiety to Confidence • From Avoidance to Freedom
These affirmations are designed to be used alongside a personalized hypnotherapy program. They can be spoken aloud, read silently, recorded and listened to, or incorporated into visualization and relaxation exercises.
The purpose is not to force fear away.
The purpose is to help create a new internal response:
I can experience fear without allowing fear to control me.
1. I AM SAFE IN THIS MOMENT
I bring my attention back to the present moment and remind myself that right now, I am safe.
2. I CAN BREATHE
My breathing is an anchor. With every slow, comfortable breath, I give my mind and body permission to relax.
3. I CAN FEEL FEAR WITHOUT BECOMING FEAR
A feeling is an experience. I can notice it, breathe through it and allow it to pass.
4. I TRUST MYSELF
I trust myself to remain present, think clearly and respond appropriately to whatever I experience.
5. I DO NOT NEED TO CONTROL EVERYTHING
I can release the need to control every detail. I can allow myself to travel without needing to be in control of everything around me.
6. MY BODY CAN LEARN CALMNESS
My body is capable of learning new responses. With practice, relaxation and repetition, calmness can become more familiar.
7. MY THOUGHTS DO NOT CONTROL ME
I can observe my thoughts without automatically believing every frightening thought that enters my mind.
8. I CHOOSE CALM OVER CATASTROPHIZING
When my mind creates frightening possibilities, I gently return to what is happening in the present moment.
9. I CAN HANDLE UNCERTAINTY
I do not need to know exactly what will happen every moment. I can tolerate uncertainty and remain grounded.
10. I AM ALLOWED TO RELAX
I give myself permission to relax my shoulders, soften my jaw, slow my breathing and allow my body to settle.
11. I CAN EXPERIENCE TURBULENCE CALMLY
If I experience movement during a flight, I can breathe, remain grounded and remind myself that uncomfortable sensations do not automatically mean something is wrong.
12. I CAN REMAIN PRESENT
I do not need to live inside frightening future scenarios. I can bring my awareness back to this breath, this moment and this experience.
13. I AM MORE CAPABLE THAN MY FEAR SUGGESTS
My fear does not define my ability. I have strengths, resources and coping skills available to me.
14. I CAN ALLOW DISCOMFORT TO PASS
I do not have to fight every uncomfortable sensation. I can allow it to rise, change and eventually settle.
15. I AM DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE
Every time I face my fear with awareness and calmness, I strengthen my confidence.
16. I CAN TRAVEL WITH GREATER EASE
I am learning that travelling can become an experience of calmness, curiosity and freedom rather than fear.
17. I CAN MANAGE ANXIETY
If anxiety appears, I have tools available to me. I can breathe, ground myself, relax and allow the moment to pass.
18. I AM NOT MY PHOBIA
A fear is something I experience. It is not the definition of who I am.
19. I CAN BE IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE AND REMAIN CALM
If enclosed spaces trigger me, I can gradually teach my mind and body that I can remain present and comfortable.
20. I CAN EXPERIENCE HEIGHT WITHOUT PANIC
I can allow myself to experience the sensation of height without automatically creating frightening stories about what it means.
21. I AM LEARNING TO TRUST THE JOURNEY
I can release unnecessary mental resistance and allow myself to experience the journey one moment at a time.
22. I HAVE THE RIGHT TO FEEL CONFIDENT
Confidence does not mean never experiencing nervousness. Confidence means knowing that I can handle what I experience.
23. I CAN CHOOSE MY RESPONSE
I may not control every circumstance, but I can influence how I breathe, where I place my attention and how I respond.
24. EACH SUCCESS BUILDS THE NEXT SUCCESS
Every calm breath, every completed step and every successful journey teaches my mind something new.
25. I AM BECOMING MORE COMFORTABLE WITH FLYING
My mind is learning. My body is learning. My confidence is growing.
26. I AM FREE TO EXPERIENCE LIFE
I do not want fear to decide where I can go, whom I can visit or what experiences I can have.
27. I CAN FOCUS ON WHERE I AM GOING
Instead of focusing entirely on what I fear, I can remember the people, places, experiences and opportunities waiting for me at my destination.
28. I AM PROUD OF MY PROGRESS
Every step forward matters. I recognize my courage, my effort and my willingness to change.
29. I AM CAPABLE OF FLYING
I can learn, practice and develop the skills necessary to experience flying with increasing calmness and confidence.
30. I AM FREE TO FLY
I release the belief that fear must determine my choices.
I breathe.
I relax.
I remain present.
I trust myself.
I allow myself to experience the journey.
I am learning.
I am growing.
I am becoming more confident.
And I give myself permission to experience the freedom that comes with being able to travel.

DAILY AFFIRMATION PRACTICE
For maximum benefit, choose 3–5 affirmations that feel personally meaningful.
Morning
Read them slowly and intentionally.
During the day
Repeat them whenever anxiety or fearful thoughts appear.
Evening
Close your eyes, breathe slowly and imagine yourself experiencing the affirmation.
Before flying
Use the affirmations together with your:
Breathing → Grounding → Safe Place → Calm Anchor → Visualization
The objective is repetition.
The mind becomes familiar with what we repeatedly think, imagine and practice.
PERFORMANCE AFFIRMATIONS
Before entering the airport, boarding the aircraft or beginning a flight, the client may repeat:
I know what I am practicing.
I know how to breathe.
I know how to ground myself.
I know how to respond to anxious thoughts.
I can remain present.
I can allow sensations to pass.
I can take this one moment at a time.
I am capable.
I am prepared.
I can do this.

I AM CONFIDENT.

THERAPEUTIC REMINDER
These affirmations are intended to support—not replace—appropriate assessment and treatment. They should be personalized to the client’s actual fears and circumstances. Where significant anxiety, panic, trauma or other psychological difficulties are present, appropriate professional assessment should be considered.
