Here is a trauma-informed hypnotherapy script titled “Pain Won’t Stop Until You Accept What Is.”
It is written carefully so that acceptance is not resignation, and pain is never minimized or blamed on the client. The focus is on reducing suffering by releasing resistance, while honoring the body’s intelligence.
Pain Won’t Stop Until You Accept What Is
A Hypnotherapy Script for Reducing Suffering Through Acceptance
Preparation
“Welcome.
Take a moment to settle into a position that feels comfortable—sitting or lying down.
Allow your body to be supported.
When you are ready, let your eyes gently close.
Take a slow, deep breath in…
…and let it go fully.
Again—slowly in…
…and completely out.
You don’t need to make the pain disappear.
You don’t need to understand it.
For now, you are simply allowing yourself to be present.”
Induction: Safety and Grounding
“Bring your awareness to your breathing.
Not to change it—just to notice it.
With every exhale, allow your body to soften where it can.
If your mind drifts, that’s okay.
Gently bring it back to the feeling of breathing.
Now notice your body, beginning at the top of your head…
Your forehead relaxes…
your eyes soften…
your jaw releases…
Your shoulders begin to drop—
not because the pain is gone,
but because you no longer need to fight it.
This gentle awareness moves through your arms…
your hands… your fingers…
through your chest and back…
your abdomen… your hips…
down your legs… into your feet.
You are here.
You are safe.
You are allowed to feel exactly what you feel.”
Understanding Pain vs. Suffering
“Pain is a sensation.
Suffering is what happens when we resist that sensation.
For a moment, notice where you have been fighting your pain—
tightening against it…
judging it…
asking it to leave.
There is no blame here.
Resistance is a natural response.
And now, you gently let go of the fight.”
Acceptance Without Giving Up
“Acceptance does not mean liking the pain.
It does not mean agreeing with it.
It does not mean it will stay forever.
Acceptance simply means saying:
‘This is what is present right now.’
As you allow the pain to be here—
without pushing it away—
notice how your body responds.
Often, the moment resistance softens,
the pain itself begins to change.”
Meeting Pain with Awareness
“Bring gentle awareness to the area of discomfort.
You are not analyzing it.
You are not trying to fix it.
You are simply noticing—
its shape…
its intensity…
its movement.
You may notice that pain is not solid.
It shifts.
It pulses.
It changes when met with awareness.
Your body begins to relax
when it no longer has to defend.”
Releasing the Secondary Pain
“Notice now the extra layers—
fear about the pain…
anger toward the pain…
exhaustion from carrying it.
These layers create more suffering than the sensation itself.
With each exhale,
you release these layers gently.
You may still feel sensation—
but the struggle around it fades.
And in that space,
relief becomes possible.”
The Body’s Intelligence
“Your body is not against you.
Pain is communication, not punishment.
As you listen instead of resist,
your nervous system settles.
Your muscles soften.
Your breath deepens.
Acceptance creates safety—
and safety allows healing to begin.”
Post-Hypnotic Suggestions
“In the days ahead, you may notice—
that when pain arises, you meet it with less tension…
that you soften instead of brace…
that discomfort passes more easily when you allow it.
You may find yourself thinking:
‘I can be with this moment.’
And in that allowance,
suffering decreases.”
Affirmations
“Repeat gently, silently or aloud:
I allow what is present.
I release resistance to my experience.
My body responds to gentleness.
Acceptance reduces suffering.
I am safe to feel and let go.”
Emerging
“When you’re ready, begin to bring your awareness back…
Notice the surface supporting you…
Gently move your fingers and toes…
Take a slow, deep breath in…
…and release it.
When it feels right, open your eyes—
bringing with you a sense of softness,
greater ease,
and the understanding that acceptance is not weakness,
but the doorway to relief.”
