30 Questions a Hypnotherapist Might Ask to Customize Your Healing Program


Section 1: Presenting Concerns (Understanding the Core Issue)

  1. What are the main challenges you are currently experiencing (e.g., anxiety, depression, habits, trauma)?
  2. When did these challenges first begin?
  3. How do these issues affect your daily life and relationships?
  4. On a scale of 1–10, how intense are these feelings or behaviours?
  5. What triggers or situations make your symptoms worse?

Section 2: Emotional & Mental State

  1. How would you describe your typical mood over the past two weeks?
  2. Do you experience persistent worry or overthinking? If yes, about what?
  3. How do you usually respond to stress or pressure?
  4. Do you often feel self-critical or struggle with negative self-talk?
  5. What thoughts do you have about yourself when things go wrong?

Section 3: Anxiety, Fear & Phobias

  1. Are there specific fears or phobias that interfere with your life?
  2. What physical sensations do you experience when anxious?
  3. How do you cope when anxiety arises?
  4. Do you avoid certain places or situations because of fear?
  5. What would your life look like without these fears?

Section 4: Trauma, Grief & Emotional Pain

  1. Have you experienced any significant trauma, grief, or loss?
  2. Do past events still feel emotionally present or unresolved?
  3. Are there recurring memories, dreams, or emotional triggers?
  4. How comfortable are you discussing these experiences?
  5. What kind of emotional support have you received so far?

Section 5: Habits & Behaviours (Smoking, Vaping, etc.)

  1. Are there habits you want to change (e.g., smoking, vaping, nail-biting)?
  2. When do these habits usually occur (time, place, emotional state)?
  3. What do you feel or gain just before or after the habit?
  4. Have you tried to stop before? What happened?
  5. What motivates you to change this behaviour now?

Section 6: Self-Esteem, Identity & Personal Growth

  1. How would you describe your level of self-confidence?
  2. What limiting beliefs do you hold about yourself?
  3. What does “peace and calm” mean to you personally?
  4. What would the best version of yourself look and feel like?
  5. What goals would you like hypnotherapy to help you achieve?
