Heal from an Eating Disorder and Stopped Hating Myself and My Body with Hypnotherapy

Heal from an Eating Disorder and Stop Hating Myself and My Body

A Hypnotherapy Script for Self-Compassion, Body Trust, and Emotional Recovery

Induction – Establishing Safety

Begin by sitting or lying comfortably…

Allow your eyes to gently close…

Take a slow, steady breath in through your nose…
And exhale softly through your mouth…

Again… breathing in calm…
Breathing out tension…

Feel the surface beneath you supporting your body.

You are safe in this moment.
You are not being judged.
You are not being measured.
You are simply here.

Allow your forehead to soften…
Your jaw to unclench…
Your shoulders to gently drop…

Let a wave of relaxation move slowly down your body…
Through your chest…
Your stomach…
Your hips…
Your legs…
All the way to your feet…

There is nothing you need to fix right now.

Only breathe.

Deepening – Entering the Healing Space

Imagine yourself walking toward a peaceful sanctuary…

A quiet place where your body and mind can rest.

This space feels warm.
Private.
Supportive.

Inside this sanctuary is a comfortable chair.

As you sit, you feel completely supported.

Here, your truth can surface without fear.

Understanding the Eating Disorder with Compassion

Now gently imagine the part of you connected to the eating disorder.

Not as an enemy.

But as a part of you that once tried to cope.

Perhaps it tried to create control.
Perhaps it tried to numb pain.
Perhaps it tried to protect you from rejection.
Perhaps it tried to help you feel worthy.

Silently say:

“I understand you were trying to help me survive.”
“Thank you for trying to protect me.”

Pause.

Notice what shifts when you stop fighting that part of yourself.

Eating disorders often develop during times of overwhelm, trauma, or deep insecurity.

This behavior was not weakness.

It was a strategy.

And now… you are ready for healthier strategies.

Releasing Self-Hatred

Now bring awareness to any self-hating thoughts you have carried.

Statements like:

“I am not enough.”
“My body is wrong.”
“I don’t deserve care.”
“I must control myself to be accepted.”

Notice these as learned voices.

They are not your true voice.

Imagine placing those thoughts on leaves floating down a gentle stream.

One by one…

Let them drift away.

Now place your hand over your heart.

Say softly:

“I am not my disorder.”
“I am worthy of nourishment.”
“I deserve kindness — especially from myself.”

Feel those words settling deeper.

Rebuilding Trust with Your Body

Now imagine speaking directly to your body.

Visualize your body as a loyal companion who has carried you through every season of life.

Say:

“I am sorry for fighting you.”
“I am sorry for punishing you.”
“I am learning to care for you.”

Feel warmth flowing from your heart into your body.

Your body is not your enemy.

It is your home.

Imagine your body responding with relief.

Perhaps you feel softness in your chest…
Warmth in your stomach…
A sense of calm…

Trust is rebuilding.

Slowly.

Gently.

Naturally.

Installing Healing Beliefs

Repeat silently:

Food is nourishment, not punishment.
My body deserves respect.
Healing is possible for me.
I can feel emotions without hurting myself.
I choose compassion over control.
I am enough as I am.

Allow these beliefs to settle into your subconscious mind.

Every time you eat, your body will move toward balance.
Every time you choose kindness, healing strengthens.

Future Integration

Now imagine a future version of yourself.

Calmer.
Stronger.
Free from constant self-criticism.

See yourself eating with neutrality or peace.

See yourself looking in the mirror without hostility.

Notice the softness in your eyes.

This future you is not perfect.

But this future you is healing.

And that is enough.

Awakening

In a moment, I will count from 1 to 5.

At 5, you will return feeling grounded, hopeful, and gently empowered.

1… awareness returning
2… clarity increasing
3… gently moving your fingers and toes
4… taking a deep, steady breath
5… eyes open, calm, present, and connected to yourself

“Imagine yourself in a calm and peaceful place, where you feel safe and relaxed. As you breathe in, imagine fresh, positive energy entering your body. As you breathe out, imagine any tension or stress leaving your body.

“Repeat the following phrase to yourself: ‘I am enough, I am worthy, and I am deserving of love and respect.’ Allow these words to sink deeply into your mind, and feel the truth of them in your heart.

“Imagine yourself eating in a healthy and balanced way, with pleasure and enjoyment. You savor each bite, and feel satisfied and content. You feel proud of yourself for taking care of your body and nourishing it with healthy foods.

“Remember, you have the power to choose how you think and feel about food and your body. You can choose to react with self-criticism and negativity, or you can choose to respond with self-compassion and kindness. The choice is yours, and you are capable of making positive choices.”

This script is just a sample, and the actual hypnotherapy sessions would be tailored to the individual’s specific needs and goals.
