Below is a full, word-for-word therapeutic script designed for Week 1 of a healing program. It blends EFT Tapping with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT-E) principles and is suitable for individual sessions, self-guided work, or practitioner-led therapy.

Case Study 00151 – Week 1

Call the Authentic Self

EFT Tapping – Emotionally Focused Therapy Script

Week 1 Theme:
Safety, Awareness & Reconnection

Core Intention:
To create emotional safety, soften protective patterns, and gently reconnect the client with their authentic self—the part that exists beneath conditioning, fear, shame, and survival strategies.

Session Objectives

  • Establish nervous system safety

  • Reduce emotional guarding and inner resistance

  • Identify disconnection from the authentic self without judgment

  • Begin rebuilding trust with the self

  • Call forward the authentic self in a gentle, non-threatening way

Session Preparation (Practitioner or Self-Guided)

  • Sit comfortably with feet on the floor

  • Slow the breath (inhale 4, exhale 6)

  • Rate emotional discomfort or disconnection from authentic self (0–10)

“There is no right or wrong way to feel. Whatever is here is welcome.”

Phase 1: Emotional Awareness & Validation

Therapeutic Prompt (spoken softly):

“Before we try to change anything, let’s simply notice what it feels like to be you right now.”

Ask or reflect:

  • “Where do you feel most disconnected from yourself?”

  • “What emotions arise when you think about being your true self?”

  • “What part of you learned it wasn’t safe to be authentic?”

Allow silence. Validate all responses.

Phase 2: EFT Setup Statement (Karate Chop Point)

Tap on the Karate Chop point while repeating each statement 3 times.

Setup Statement:

“Even though I feel disconnected from my authentic self,
and a part of me learned it was safer to hide,
I deeply and completely accept myself right now.”

Alternate options (use what resonates):

  • “Even though I don’t fully know who my authentic self is anymore…”

  • “Even though being my true self once felt unsafe…”

  • “Even though I learned to protect myself by not showing who I really am…”

Phase 3: EFT Tapping Sequence – Acknowledging Protection

Tap through the points:
Eyebrow – Side of Eye – Under Eye – Under Nose – Chin – Collarbone – Under Arm – Top of Head

Round 1 – Honouring the Protective Self

  • Eyebrow:
“This disconnection from my authentic self”

  • Side of Eye:
    “This distance I feel inside”

  • Under Eye:
“A part of me learned to hide”

  • Under Nose:
“It was safer not to be fully me”

  • Chin:
“I had reasons for becoming this way”

  • Collarbone:
    “These patterns protected me”

  • Under Arm:
    “They helped me survive”

  • Top of Head:
“And I honor that part of me”

Phase 4: Emotionally Focused Reframe – Safety First

“Nothing is wrong with you. Your nervous system adapted.”

Round 2 – Creating Safety

  • Eyebrow:
    “I’m not broken”

  • Side of Eye:
    “I adapted to my environment”

  • Under Eye:

  • Collarbone:
    “Safety comes first”

  • Under Arm:
    “I can go slowly”

  • Top of Head:
    “My body responds to gentleness”

Phase 5: Calling the Authentic Self (Core Script)

“The authentic self does not need to be created.
It needs to be invited.”

Round 3 – Invitation

  • Eyebrow:
    “Somewhere inside me”

  • Side of Eye:
    “My authentic self still exists”

  • Under Eye:
    “It hasn’t disappeared”

  • Under Nose:
    “It’s been waiting”

  • Chin:
    “Waiting for safety”

  • Collarbone:
    “Waiting for permission”

  • Under Arm:
    “Waiting for compassion”

  • Top of Head:
“I gently call it forward now”

Phase 6: Rebuilding Self-Trust

Round 4 – Trust & Permission

  • Eyebrow:
“I don’t have to fully reveal myself yet”

  • Side of Eye:
    “I can start by listening”

  • Under Eye:
“I can get to know myself again”

  • Under Nose:
    “Without pressure”

  • Chin:
    “Without judgment”

  • Collarbone:
    “Without needing approval”

  • Under Arm:
“I allow small moments of authenticity”

  • Top of Head:
“I am safe to be real with myself”

Phase 7: Integration & Regulation

Hand on heart. Slow breathing.

“Notice any shift—however small.
Even neutrality is progress.”

Ask:

  • “What feels slightly different now?”

  • “What part of you feels seen?”

  • “What does your authentic self need more of this week?”

Post-Session Affirmations (Optional)

Repeat softly or silently:

  • “My authenticity returns as safety grows”

  • “I no longer abandon myself to belong”

  • “I am allowed to be real, gently and gradually”

  • “My true self emerges when I feel safe”

Week 1 Homework (Gentle, Non-Forceful)

  • Notice one moment per day where you feel slightly more like yourself

  • Journal prompt:

“When do I feel most like me—without trying?”

  • Use this tapping script once daily or as needed

Therapeutic Note

This session is not about change, but reconnection.
Authenticity grows naturally when safety, compassion, and permission are present.
